FAQ's EFT F1
SOME FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT EFT
WHAT IS EFT?
EFT is a meridian energy technique developed by Gary Craig in the early 1990s, with its roots in ancient acupuncture and modern psychological research.
EFT originated from TFT (Thought Field Therapy), discovered by a psychologist called Dr. Roger Callahan, whilst studying acupuncture and kinesiology in the 1980s. ‘It is the missing piece to the healing puzzle’ (Gary Craig www.emofree.com)
HOW DOES EFT WORK?
EFT is non-invasive and involves gently tapping on the end points of the 12 meridian channels and the 2 governing vessels found in Chinese medicine.
By tapping on these points whilst focusing in on the problem, using specific phrases, a release takes place clearing the physical or emotional pain being worked on. This led Gary Craig to the realisation that ‘the cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy system.’
The phrasing tunes you into the problem and the tapping clears the energy behind it.
WHY EFT?
EFT can shift issues and blocks straight from the body, without the need for intellectual understanding, and it’s not important whether or not you ‘believe’ in the treatment, as it works energetically. The technique is simple to learn and will be picked up relatively quickly, enabling you to work on yourself at home too.
(please note: EFT is effective in the treatment of many issues, but should be seen as complementary to medical treatment, not as a replacement. Emotional Freedom Technique is available on the NHS and used in hospitals in United Kingdom.)
HOW LONG DO THE RESULTS LAST?
Emotional clearing with EFT is almost always long lasting. Physical healings are often impressive and enduring as well but are more likely to re-emerge than emotional issues.
ARE EFT'S RESULTS DUE TO EITHER PLACEBO EFFECTS OR DISTRACTION?
No! Placebo effects require some belief in the process and this is rarely the case for newcomers to EFT. Also, although EFT may appear to be distracting, it will not work if the client is, in fact, distracted. That is why the client continually repeats a phrase which "tunes in" to the problem.
ARE THERE ANY NEGATIVE SIDE EFFECTS?
By comparison to many other processes, EFT is quite gentle and rarely has any side effects and if any is usually positive! It is often combined with or used instead of other procedures, because of its gentle nature.
WHY HAVEN’T I HEARD OF EFT BEFORE?
The use of this technique is relatively new to many practitioners in the UK and Asia but more of them have started using it now over the last few years. It is really part of the beginning of a complete revolution in the way we deal with our emotions within psychotherapy. In many cases, difficulties that have persisted in spite of years of work using the methods of traditional psychology may be relieved in minutes. If, not, relief is generally possible within days or weeks rather than years.
It is estimated that about 85% or more of emotional issues treated with these processes are eliminated within four sessions with the majority of them being resolved even more quickly.
DO I NEED TO BELIEVE IN EFT FOR IT TO WORK?
There is no need for intellectual understanding and no need to relive painful experiences. It is not important whether you believe it is working, as it is working on a much deeper level than the logical mind. EFT works on all kinds of psychological, emotional, spiritual and physical issues, and often works when nothing else has.
The technique is quickly picked up during treatment and can be applied as a self-healing tool or used in an ‘emergency’ situation. It works on anything! Find out everything there is to know about EFT at www.emofree.com, download your free manual and read hundreds of case histories.
HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?
EFT will go as deep as you wish to go. For a specific issue such as a fear or phobia, one session lasting an hour may be sufficient.
If you are on a journey of healing and want to get to the core, EFT will help you to gently pull back the layers and release as much as you are ready for. In this case, you may wish to have several sessions of EFT on an on-going basis. EFT also works well in conjunction with other therapies and will help you to clear blocks.
Treatment depends on you and your individual needs. I will be led by you, and prior to beginning any treatment we will agree on the goals, the sessions needed and the costs.
WHAT WILL I FEEL?
You will feel shifts in your emotional and physical body during the session. These could be very subtle, maybe a feeling of energy moving, but can also be much stronger, bringing up deeply held emotions. It is also quite common for detachment from the issue to be experienced as you let go of the problem. You may lose the emotional charge or wonder why on earth it was such a big deal in the first place.
In the days and weeks after a session you may experience changes within yourself and your life. There could be more letting go, more awareness, or deeper issues coming up to be healed.
EFT has been clinically effective in thousands of cases and properly applied, over 80% (of cases) achieve noticeable improvement or complete cessation of the problem.
WILL I HAVE TO RELIVE ‘PAINFUL EVENTS‘?
Unlike conventional psychotherapy there is no need to relive painful experiences. ‘Tuning in ‘ to the issue is done with gentle techniques.
